Saudi, Iraq discuss strengthening military and defense cooperation

Saudi Arabia's Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman held talks with Iraq's Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, First Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, on Thursday, focusing on military and defense cooperation.
The two officials reviewed bilateral relations in the defense sector and discussed regional developments, Prince Khalid said in a post on X.
They stressed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to serve their shared interests and strengthen regional security and stability.
Prince Khalid reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's strong ties with Iraq, describing it as a "dear neighbor" and highlighting the bonds between the two countries.
He said the Kingdom would continue supporting Iraq's security, stability, development and prosperity, emphasizing that closer cooperation would benefit Iraq and its people.
