India Condemns Attack on Indian-Flagged Vessel
India has strongly condemned the attack on the Indian-flagged commercial vessel MSV Faize Noore Oliya, which sank after being struck by a projectile near Yemeni waters.
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said the vessel was hit and capsized, but all 14 seafarers on board, including 13 Indians, were safely rescued by the Yemeni Coast Guard and brought to the Port of Mokha.
India's Ministry of External Affairs also condemned the attack, describing the continued targeting of commercial shipping in the region as deeply worrisome.
The ministry said the Indian Embassy in Riyadh is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Yemeni authorities to ensure the safety and security of the crew.
India stressed that attacks on commercial shipping must end and called for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through international waterways, in accordance with international law.
The incident adds to growing concerns over maritime security in waters around Yemen and the Red Sea, where commercial vessels continue to face security threats
