Housing Minister launches foundation works under government land development programme

Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amina bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi has witnessed the start of foundation works for a new project to build 69 housing units in Salman City.

The project is part of the ministry’s plan to deliver 137 new housing units in Salman City through a partnership with the private sector under the Government Land Development Rights Programme. The launch was attended by Delmon Gate Real Estate Company CEO Abdullah Ali and several officials.

Al Rumaihi said the continued rollout of projects under the programme reflects the accelerating pace of housing development efforts aimed at achieving the national target of providing 50,000 housing units, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

She highlighted the government’s support, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for strengthening partnerships with the private sector to expand housing options and improve project delivery.

The minister described the Government Land Development Rights Programme as an advanced model of public-private partnership that contributes to increasing housing supply, enhancing efficiency, and providing diverse housing solutions to meet the needs of Bahraini families.

She noted that the programme has achieved positive results through several projects, including Suheil in Al Lawzi, Al Naseem District in Salman City, Al Wadi in Al Buhair, and Danat Hoorat Sanad, which have received strong interest from citizens.

Al Rumaihi added that the latest project is being implemented according to the approved timeline following the signing of the partnership agreement. It marks a continuation of cooperation between the ministry and Delmon Gate Real Estate Company after the successful completion of the Al Naseem District project, which delivered 131 housing units for beneficiaries of housing finance programmes.

She praised the company’s commitment to meeting approved technical and engineering standards and completing the project within the scheduled timeframe.

Delmon Gate Real Estate CEO Abdullah Ali said the company was proud to continue its cooperation with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, describing the partnership as a successful example of integration between the public and private sectors in developing housing projects.

He said the new project represents the second phase of cooperation between both sides and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering the units according to the highest technical standards.

The project will be built on an area of 13,891 square metres, with housing units ranging from 174 to 261 square metres, and an average size of 200 square metres per unit. Prices will be aligned with the ministry’s housing finance programmes in cooperation with approved financing banks.
