KYIV: A massive Russian ballistic missile attack on Ukraine's capital on Saturday, killed at least nine people and wounded 28 others, including four children, across five Kyiv districts.
The barrage damaged residential homes, vehicles, and a five-storey apartment building, triggering widespread fires throughout the city. Emergency workers rescued 105 people from damaged structures as firefighters sifted through rubble following more than ten consecutive explosions.
Moscow’s defense ministry stated it launched a massive strike against military-industrial enterprises and logistics hubs. However, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized that the barrage highlights Kyiv's urgent need for additional air and missile defense systems to secure its skies.
The deadly attack comes amid escalated long-range strikes by both sides after nearly four-and-a-half years of war.
