Fake Dubai Job Scam: Two Women Arrested in Philippines

Manila: Philippine police have arrested two women accused of conducting a fake international recruitment program that promised career opportunities in Dubai. The accused allegedly pretended to be recruiters and collected processing and placement fees from interested foreign workers despite the fact that they lacked legal authority to recruit for positions abroad.

Investigators found that at least 18 victims paid a total of ₱1.15 million (about $20,000) for jobs that did not exist. The arrests were made during an entrapment operation after multiple victims reported the suspected scam to authorities.

Police seized employment certificates, receipts, mobile phones, and other evidence thought to have been utilised in the unlawful recruitment operation. The individuals are now facing allegations of illegal recruiting and estafa (fraud) under Philippine law.

Authorities recommended Filipinos seeking foreign jobs to check recruiting companies with the Department of Migrant Workers and avoid paying individuals or agencies that are not properly licensed. The case provides further caution about fraudulent employment offers aimed at people looking to work abroad.
