ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates is set for a spell of unsettled summer weather featuring scattered afternoon rain and blowing dust through Monday, August 3, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

An extension of a surface low-pressure system combined with an upper-air low is driving convective cloud formations across the country’s eastern and southern regions, including Fujairah, eastern Sharjah, and interior Abu Dhabi.

Despite the chance of localized rain, temperatures remain extremely high, ranging between 43°C and 48°C inland and up to 44°C along the coast.

Light to moderate winds freshening up to 45 km/h during cloud development are expected to blow dust and sand, temporarily reducing visibility. Forecasters noted the unstable pattern aligns with a strengthening moderate El Niño in the tropical Pacific, which has increased the likelihood of above-average seasonal precipitation and warmer autumn conditions across the region.
