Hong Kong: Chinese authorities evacuated over 20,000 people and suspended major transport networks across southern regions as Typhoon Noul approached Guangdong province and Hong Kong.
China's National Meteorological Center issued an orange typhoon alert, predicting maximum sustained winds of up to 151 kilometers per hour when the storm makes landfall between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
The approaching storm triggered widespread travel disruptions across the region. Officials halted all train services in Guangdong province, recalled fishing vessels back to ports, and ordered schools to cancel on-campus activities. In Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific cancelled all flights scheduled for Sunday morning and afternoon.
Meteorologists warned that Typhoon Noul carries a high disaster risk due to its deep inland trajectory, prolonged duration, and heavy cumulative rainfall. The severe weather comes shortly after Typhoon Maysak caused devastating floods and fatalities across central and southern China earlier this month.
