Canadian Wildfire Smoke Triggers Dangerous Air Quality Across US

Washington: Millions of people received health alerts as the result of the smoke from enormous wildfires raging across Canada drifting into the United States, covering significant portions of the Midwest and Northeast in dangerous air.
Authorities advised residents to stay indoors, avoid outside activities, and wear high-quality masks if they had to go outside due to the poor and, in some places, dangerous levels of air quality. Schools, outdoor events, and recreational activities were also affected in several regions.
The smoke originates from hundreds of active wildfires in Canada, many of which remain out of control. Thick smoke trails have been sent across the border by the fires, which have been fuelled by dry weather, high temperatures, and strong winds.
Officials advised vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly, and those with heart or lung illnesses, to take particular care because bad air quality could continue until the weather improves.
