King Charles to Release Personal Tax Details

LONDON: King Charles III is set to become the first British monarch to disclose his personal tax bill. Buckingham Palace confirmed that this decision was made at the express wish of the King himself to improve financial transparency.
The details are scheduled for release this Thursday as part of the annual royal financial accounts.
While British monarchs are legally exempt from paying certain taxes, the King’s move is part of the ongoing adaptations to modernize and evolve royal operations.
The initiative aims to provide clarity on royal finances while placing them in a constitutional context. However, the anti-monarchy group Republic has criticized the voluntary disclosure, arguing it leaves many questions unanswered regarding the high levels of royal income.
The King, who receives funds from both the Sovereign Grant and private duchy income, previously shared tax information when he was heir to the throne.
