The State of Qatar has announced the launch of the Lake Lucerne Summit, marking the first meeting of a high-level committee bringing together representatives from the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and mediating partners including the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Qatar itself, to advance negotiations toward a comprehensive and lasting agreement.

According to the announcement, the initiative is part of Qatar’s ongoing mediation efforts and seeks to address all issues outlined in a memorandum of understanding between the participating sides.

Technical groups formed

Adviser to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, said specialized technical and expert working groups have already been established to negotiate the provisions of a final agreement. These teams will work on detailed aspects of the memorandum, while separate follow-up committees will monitor implementation and assess progress.

He emphasized that the structure reflects a shared commitment by all parties to continue negotiations in good faith and achieve a sustainable settlement.

Qatar stresses diplomacy

Dr. Al Ansari said Qatar, alongside Pakistan, will continue efforts to maintain a constructive environment for dialogue, reaffirming Doha’s belief that diplomacy remains the most effective path to resolving disputes.

He also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role as a key partner in mediation, as well as for the commitment of the United States and Iran to pursuing diplomatic solutions.

Regional and international support

The spokesperson further acknowledged support from regional countries including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates, noting that their engagement has helped create favorable conditions for the negotiations.

He reiterated Qatar’s full backing for all efforts aimed at reaching a final agreement that could strengthen peace, stability, and prosperity across the region.
