Islamabad: At least seven people were killed and three injured after two roadside bomb explosions struck Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday.
According to local police, the first blast targeted a pickup truck carrying passengers in Bannu district using a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED), killing five people.
As victims were being rushed to hospital, a second roadside bomb exploded near the vehicle transporting the injured, killing two more people and wounding others.
No group has claimed responsibility, but suspicion is likely to fall on the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), which has carried out similar attacks in the region in the past.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and vowed to continue efforts to eliminate terrorism, while President Asif Ali Zardari expressed condolences and warned those supporting militant networks.
