London: One train driver was killed and nine people remain in critical condition after two trains collided near Bedford during the Friday evening rush hour, British authorities said.
More than 80 people were injured in the crash, with 28 still in hospital as of Saturday. Emergency services said 11 people suffered very serious injuries, while dozens of others were treated for serious and minor wounds.
The collision occurred when an East Midlands Railway train struck a slower-moving train near Bedford. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.
