Ethiopia Bus Crash Kills 28, Several Injured

Addis Ababa: A passenger bus plunged off the road and crashed into a ravine in Ethiopia, killing 28 passengers and injuring several more, according to local authorities.
Emergency responders and local citizens rushed to the site to rescue survivors, and the injured were sent to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials indicated the death toll might rise because other passengers remain in critical condition.
Authorities started an inquiry into the cause of the accident, with preliminary findings pointing to suspected speeding, poor road conditions, or mechanical failure. Deadly traffic accidents are extremely regular in Ethiopia, where rough roads, ageing vehicles, and a lack of road safety measures lead to a high number of deaths every year.
Calls for stronger implementation of traffic laws and increased transportation safety nationwide have been sparked by the tragedy.
