The US and Iran are set to sign a peace deal within the next 24 hours after negotiators finalised the wording of a deal aimed at ending months of hostility that has shook the Middle East and crippled global oil markets. Pakistan, which has served as a crucial mediator, stated that all parties had agreed on the final text of the agreement and were now working on the following steps.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that the ‘final, agreed-upon text’ had been reached, and that an electronic signing ceremony might be held within a day. Technical meetings are planned to begin next week to address implementation details and unsolved challenges.

According to officials involved with the negotiations, the proposed deal includes reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and easing restrictions that restricted shipping and oil exports. The agreement would also set up a 60-day time frame for negotiating Iran's nuclear program, which has been a major sticking point in discussions between Washington and Tehran.

Despite the diplomatic breakthrough, tensions remain high. Military operations has been reported near the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, and Israel has stated that it is not bound by the planned deal and aims to maintain freedom of military action in the region.

A senior US source rated the chances of a successful signing as strong, but warned that several details must be finalised before the agreement becomes official.
