US Judge Indefinitely Blocks Trump's 'Anti-Weaponisation' Fund

Alexandria: A federal judge has put on hold the Trump administration's proposed $1.8 billion ‘Anti-Weaponisation Fund,’ declaring that the government failed to provide sufficient legal guarantees that the controversial project has been permanently cancelled.
U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema said comments from administration officials were insufficient and sought sworn affirmations that the fund would not be reopened. The injunction will be in effect until the legal case is resolved.
The fund, formed as part of a settlement related to President Donald Trump's lawsuit over leaked tax returns, was meant to pay individuals who claimed to be victims of politically motivated government actions. Critics claimed it may unlawfully steer taxpayer funds to Trump's allies.
