Trump Says Netanyahu Has ‘No Choice’ on Any Iran Deal

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was left with ‘no choice’ but to accept any agreement reached between Washington and Tehran, declaring that he "calls all the shots" in the ongoing US-Iran negotiations.

In a phone interview with the Financial Times, Trump stated that the recent round of attacks between Israel and Iran will not interfere with diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement with Tehran. ‘He won't have an option. I call the shots. I get to make all of the decisions. He does not call the shots,’ Trump stated, referring to Netanyahu.

The statements came after Iran fired missiles at Israel, and Israel replied with strikes on Iranian targets, leading to fears that further hostilities could damage negotiations. Trump insisted that any future deal with Iran would be judged on its own merits, and that the recent bloodshed would not change Washington's stance to the discussions.

The comments point to a rare public dispute between Washington and Jerusalem on Iran policy, with Trump indicating that the US intends to drive the direction of negotiations despite Israeli concerns.
