China Calls for Restraint as Israel-Iran Ceasefire Faces New Strains

Beijing: China said on Monday it is 'deeply concerned' by ongoing disputes between Israel and Iran, urging both sides to respect the ceasefire and avoid further escalation in the Middle East.
Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, stated that 'resuming hostilities is not in any party's interest' and hoped that all parties would honour their promises under the ceasefire agreement.
The request came after Israel and Iran exchanged retaliatory strikes, the most significant escalation since a truce in April. Despite continuous diplomatic efforts to keep the ceasefire in place, recent violence has raised concerns that the region could fall back into an intensified battle.
China has repeatedly called for discussion and a political solution to the crisis, urging everyone involved to take advantage of opportunities for peace and avoid future volatility in the region.
