TEHRAN: A Qatari negotiating team arrived in Tehran on Friday to help secure a deal ending the war with Iran and resolve outstanding issues. The diplomatic mission was launched in close coordination with the United States.
Doha has a well-established history of acting as an international mediator, including handling negotiations during the Gaza war and managing various other global flashpoints.
However, the Gulf nation had actively distanced itself from playing a mediation role in the Iran war until now. This reluctance came after Qatar fell under direct attack from Iranian missiles and drones during the height of the recent conflict.
