Indiana: Indian chef Surabhi Suri earned the top spot in the vegetarian category at the prestigious World Food Championships in the United States. She received praise internationally for her culinary skills and innovative approach to vegetarian cuisine.

While competing against chefs from other countries, Suri impressed judges with her presentation, flavours, and technique, outperforming both experienced competitors and previous champions. Suri astonished the judges by  mixing Indian and Mediterranean flavours in her highlight dish, a vivid Beetroot Kofta served with herb bulgur, garnished with nuts and traditional spices.

The competition, which is frequently referred to as the ‘Olympics of Food Sport,’ unites competitors from all over the world in a number of categories, including sandwiches, seafood, barbecue, and vegetarian dishes.

Suri hailed the win ‘a dream come true’ and expressed the moment as emotional and overwhelming. She said promoting Indian cuisines on an international stage and winning the title made her proud, and that the honour was a turning point in her culinary career.

Organisers said her dishes stood out for their creativity and culinary balance, which helped her win the global title in her debut attempt at the competition. The event was held in Indiana, USA.
