Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam sharply criticized Hezbollah Friday, declaring that the country has had enough of ‘reckless adventures serving foreign projects or interests.’

Speaking at an NGO dinner, Salam issued the implicit rebuke following a regional war that left 68 Lebanese towns and villages under Israeli occupation. He strongly rejected Hezbollah’s claims of a ‘victory,’ calling it an insult to the public's intelligence given the extensive killing, destruction, and displacement across the nation.

Salam demanded that the Lebanese military be recognized as the country's sole armed authority, in line with Beirut's legal framework outlawing Hezbollah's separate military actions.

The prime minister appealed for widespread Arab and international backing to strengthen Beirut’s leverage in ongoing negotiations with Israel. The statement coincided with a US-announced 45-day extension of the current bilateral ceasefire.
