NEW YORK: Judge Curtis Farber declared a mistrial in Harvey Weinstein’s third New York rape trial Friday after the jury deadlocked, leaving the #MeToo-era case in legal limbo.

The majority-male Manhattan jury spent three days deliberating whether the former Hollywood mogul raped accuser Jessica Mann in 2013. The breakdown came after jurors sent a final note stating, ‘We feel that no one is going to change where they stand.’ Jurors later revealed outside court that the panel was split 9-3 in favor of acquittal, citing inconsistencies and reasonable doubt in Mann’s testimony.

While Weinstein remains incarcerated due to convictions on separate sex crime charges in Los Angeles, this specific New York charge remains unresolved. His 2020 conviction in this case was overturned on appeal, and a subsequent 2025 retrial also ended in a deadlocked jury.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg expressed disappointment and set a June 24 hearing to announce whether prosecutors will seek a fourth trial.
