GCC Interior Ministers Discuss Regional Security at Emergency Riyadh Meeting

General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, chaired an extraordinary meeting of the Interior Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council states in Riyadh, with the participation of Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi.

Albudaiwi said the meeting reviewed the regional security situation in light of ongoing developments, as well as ways to strengthen joint Gulf security coordination and cooperation to address challenges resulting from attacks targeting GCC states. He stressed that the security of GCC countries is indivisible.

He added that the ministers underscored the importance of intensifying coordination between interior ministries and relevant authorities across GCC member states following the arrest of several cells linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The ministers also affirmed the need to confront all threats targeting the security and stability of GCC countries, address the repercussions of current developments, and combat all forms of terrorism.

The ministers extended their condolences to the families of those killed in the Iranian attacks targeting GCC states and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

Albudaiwi further noted that the ministers commended the efforts of Gulf security agencies in uncovering and apprehending the linked cells, stressing that these operations reflect the efficiency, vigilance, and readiness of GCC security authorities in safeguarding the security and stability of member states and protecting their societies from threats.
