GCC Ambassadors to EU Discuss Regional Security with European Commissioner
Ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council states accredited to the European Union met with Dubravka Šuica at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels to discuss regional developments and cooperation between the GCC and the European Union.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mohammed Ali Bahzad.
Discussions focused on the regional situation following the repercussions of the Iranian attacks targeting GCC states, as well as the longstanding relations between GCC countries and the European Union and ways to further strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.
The participants also highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between the GCC and the European Union, stressing the need to build on existing cooperation through continued consultation and coordination in support of common interests and regional and international security and stability.
During the meeting, Ambassador Bahzad addressed the impact of the Iranian attacks on Bahrain and other GCC countries, while also discussing the consequences of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran on regional security and global economic stability.
He further emphasised the importance of supporting international efforts aimed at safeguarding freedom of navigation in international waters.
