ISLAMABAD: In a significant humanitarian effort, the Pakistan Navy has provided emergency assistance to an Indian offshore vessel stranded in the Arabian Sea.
The operation was launched following a distress call from the MV Gautam, which had suffered a critical technical failure while traveling from Oman to India.
The rescue mission was initiated after the Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai established contact with Pakistani authorities to request urgent support. In response, the Pakistan Navy dispatched the PMSS Kashmir to the site.
The ship’s crew provided food, medical aid, and technical expertise to stabilize the vessel and ensure the safety of the seven people on board.
The stranded crew consisted of six Indian nationals and one Indonesian sailor. Security sources confirmed that the operation was supported by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA).
This rescue comes amid a period of heightened regional maritime activity and highlights a rare moment of cooperation between the two neighbors. The Pakistan Navy has reaffirmed its commitment to maritime safety, noting this is the second major rescue of foreign mariners in the region in the last month.
