LONDON: A court in southwest England has convicted James Holder, the 54-year-old co-founder of the British fashion brand Superdry, of rape. The conviction follows a trial where a jury found Holder guilty of raping a woman in 2022 after meeting her at a bar in Cheltenham.

Following the verdict on Friday, the court refused Holder bail as he awaits his sentencing, which is scheduled for next week.

Holder was instrumental in launching the streetwear brand in 2003. However, the company has faced significant business hurdles in recent years, including a notable drop in sales that led to its delisting from the London Stock Exchange in 2024.

Since then, the brand has been operating under the name Superdry & Co.
