Iran Partially Reopens Airspace for International Transit Flights

Tehran: Iran partially reopened its airspace on Saturday, allowing international transit flights to cross the eastern section of the country, according to the nation’s Civil Aviation Authority.

The authority said air routes in eastern Iran were reopened for international overflights and that several airports resumed operations from 7:00 a.m. local time (0330 GMT).

Despite the announcement, flight tracking websites showed no immediate return of international traffic through Iranian airspace more than three hours later. Several airlines continued to avoid the area, opting for longer detours around the country.

Iran’s airspace has faced repeated disruptions amid heightened regional tensions and security concerns affecting commercial aviation routes across the Middle East.

No timeline was given for the reopening of western or central air corridors.
