Beirut: A 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has started, with people in Beirut celebrating by firing guns into the air.
Donald Trump announced the truce and said it includes the Iran-backed group Hezbollah. The group said it carried out its last attack just minutes before the ceasefire began.
Many families who had fled their homes started returning, even though officials warned them to wait until the situation becomes stable.
The Lebanese army accused Israel of breaking the ceasefire with shelling in southern areas, but Israel has not responded yet.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has been ongoing since March, leading to heavy fighting and damage.
Leaders from both sides welcomed the ceasefire, while Trump urged Hezbollah to respect the truce and called for peace. Several countries, including Iran and Qatar, also supported the agreement.
