Islamabad: Pakistan has tightened security in Islamabad ahead of a possible second round of talks between the United States and Iran. Authorities have taken strict measures to protect visiting officials and delegates.

Bus stations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi were ordered to shut from Thursday night, and public transport has been restricted from entering the twin cities. A senior official said the government wants to ensure maximum security, especially with high-profile leaders expected to attend.

However, Pakistan’s foreign ministry clarified that no official date has been set yet for the talks.

The Red Zone in Islamabad has been heavily secured, with army deployment, barricades, and strict entry controls allowing only authorised people inside. The city has been placed on high alert, with over 10,000 security personnel deployed, including police, Rangers, and paramilitary forces.

Road closures and traffic diversions are in place, while hospitals and emergency services remain on standby.
