Tehran: Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran on April 15, 2026, for talks with Iranian leaders as part of efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran.
He was accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a delegation, and was welcomed by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to Iranian media, the purpose of the visit is to deliver a message from the U.S. to Iran and help plan the next round of negotiations.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said that several messages have already been exchanged through Pakistan after recent talks in Islamabad ended without a breakthrough.
He added that Iran would not accept negotiations if one side tries to impose conditions on the other.
The diplomatic effort comes as Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif began official visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Türkiye.
