Dubai: In a major sign of regional de-escalation, maritime monitors confirmed today that the first commercial vessels have successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the two-week U.S.-Iran ceasefire.
The passage of these ships marks the end of a weeks-long maritime blockade that had paralyzed the world’s most critical energy chokepoint.
Among the first to navigate the waterway were the Greek-owned tanker NJ Earth and the Liberia-flagged Daytona Beach. Their successful transit is being hailed as a tangible victory for the ceasefire, signaling that the diplomatic truce is delivering immediate results.
While maritime security agencies continue to monitor the route closely to ensure safe passage, the reopening of the Strait is expected to provide significant relief to volatile global energy markets and ease mounting oil supply concerns.
