Extended School Break Announced from April 8

DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has announced an immediate change to the academic calendar, implementing an extended weekend holiday for all educational institutions starting today, April 8, 2026. 

This directive applies to all levels of schooling, including government schools, nurseries, and higher education facilities, and will remain in effect through the end of the current week.

This break has been rescheduled from the previously planned dates of April 22 and 23. According to the Ministry, the decision was made in coordination with relevant state authorities as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and the broader educational community amidst ongoing regional developments.

The Ministry expressed its gratitude to parents and students for their cooperation during this adjustment. It also commended the administrative and academic staff for their continued dedication to their educational missions. 

Moving forward, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the situation closely and stated that any further updates will be communicated through official channels.
