Kyiev: Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Ukrainian team is heading to the Gulf region to help protect lives and support stability amid escalating tensions affecting global energy routes.

In a post on X, the Ukraine president said the current crisis has created serious challenges, pointing to actions by Iran that he said have effectively blocked the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical routes for oil and gas supplies.

Zelenskyy warned that the disruption represents a major source of global instability and said it remains unclear how long the situation could last. He stressed the importance of quickly implementing measures to protect lives and restore stability.

The Ukrainian leader also said countries seeking Kyiv’s assistance should continue supporting Ukraine’s own defence capabilities, particularly its air defence systems.

Zelenskyy highlighted Ukraine’s experience in countering drone attacks, saying the country has developed extensive expertise during the war with Russia. He added that Ukraine had previously proposed a drone cooperation agreement with the United States, arguing that partnerships in drone production and defence are essential.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s experience in countering attack drones could play an important role in strengthening defence capabilities in the Gulf region, the wider Middle East, and among partners in Europe and North America.
