Jordanian Citizens Killed After Russian Military Recruitment

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has confirmed that it is closely monitoring the deaths of two Jordanian citizens who were recruited by foreign entities to fight illegally with the Russian military. Through its Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, the ministry is following up on the circumstances surrounding these incidents.

The ministry is coordinating with relevant authorities to recover the remains of the deceased and repatriate them to Jordan, praying for God’s mercy upon the victims and patience for their families.

In a statement, the ministry’s spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, reiterated that recruiting Jordanian citizens to fight in foreign armies violates both Jordanian and international law and places the lives of citizens at serious risk.

Al-Majali urged all citizens to report any attempts to recruit them into the Russian military and warned against engaging with such recruitment efforts, emphasizing the dangers involved and the legal violations they constitute.

The spokesperson also stated that the ministry has formally requested Russian authorities to cease the recruitment of Jordanian citizens and to end the enlistment of anyone previously recruited. The ministry affirmed that it will take all available measures to halt this process.

Al-Majali further warned of entities operating online to lure Jordanians into foreign military service, stressing that the ministry, in coordination with national institutions, is actively monitoring these networks and taking legal and diplomatic measures to protect Jordanian citizens.
