Pope Urges Russia and Ukraine to Seek Peace Through Dialogue

Pope Leo XIV on Thursday called on Russia and Ukraine to find the “courage” to engage in sincere and respectful talks, amid ongoing efforts to end the nearly four-year conflict.
In his Christmas blessing, the Pope said: “May the parties involved, with the support and commitment of the international community, find the courage to engage in sincere, direct and respectful dialogue.”
Recently, officials from both Russia and Ukraine have held separate discussions with US negotiators to explore proposals aimed at ending the war that began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
