In a move that marks a major leap in digital innovation, Saudi Arabia has officially launched Governata, the Kingdom’s first enterprise data management platform developed entirely in Arabic. Designed to help public and private entities navigate the complex world of data governance, Governata harnesses the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI to turn data into a powerful tool for smarter decision-making.

The platform’s debut comes at a critical time, supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to become a global leader in the digital economy. Governata’s software offers AI-driven solutions to help organizations comply with national data regulations while building strong foundations for future technologies.

Made in Saudi for Saudi and Beyond
What sets Governata apart is its local focus. It is the first and only Saudi-made Arabic platform that aligns fully with the Kingdom’s data regulatory framework. It meets the standards set by the National Data Management Office (NDMO), the National Data Index (NDI), and the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), under the supervision of the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA).

The platform helps organizations identify, classify, and protect personal data, track regulatory compliance, and maintain high-quality data – all essential elements as more institutions gear up for AI integration.

Designed for Simplicity, Built for Power
Governata’s software includes several user-friendly features tailored for Arabic speakers, such as:

Arabic-First Interface: Easy navigation and full alignment with Saudi data terminology.

Smart Compliance Tracker: Automatically measures and reports data maturity and legal compliance.

Personal Data Protection: Identifies sensitive information and applies Saudi privacy regulations.

Data Cataloguing and Classification: Helps institutions organize and manage data assets clearly.

Data Quality and Lineage Tools: Tracks data across its lifecycle to ensure accuracy.

Access Management Controls: Allows organizations to set roles and permissions based on department or data type.

A Vision for the Future
Behind Governata is a trio of seasoned professionals. Co-founder Djamel Mohand is a tech entrepreneur known for scaling startups like Foodics; Jehad Senan brings 20 years of data governance experience; and Khalid Almudayfir is a data scientist who has helped shape national AI and data strategies. Together, their goal is to enhance digital trust and enable data-driven progress across the Kingdom.

“Data is the backbone of today’s economy,” said Djamel Mohand. “Our goal is to help Saudi and global organizations manage it efficiently and responsibly so they can make faster, smarter decisions.”

Jehad Senan added, “Governata acts as a bridge between a company’s raw data and advanced AI systems – all while ensuring strict quality control and regulatory compliance.”

Ready for the Region and the World
Governata is flexible and scalable, available as both a cloud-based service and an on-premises solution. It is already collaborating with top advisory firms and tech partners in the region to support rollout and implementation.

The company also offers training and consulting services to ensure that data officers across institutions can focus on strategic tasks instead of administrative burdens.

Looking ahead, Governata plans to launch additional tools to support a broader AI-powered decision-making ecosystem across the Middle East and North Africa.

With Governata, Saudi Arabia is not just stepping into the future of data – it’s helping lead it.
