Abu Dhabi authorities have shared a shocking video showing a car being struck by another vehicle after it had stopped on the leftmost lane of a busy four-lane road. The footage, which has since gone viral, highlights the dangers of stopping on the road without proper precaution.
In the video, a man is seen closing the bonnet of the car when the crash occurs. Fortunately, he narrowly escapes harm as the impact causes the car to lurch forward and parts of it to fall off. Prior to the collision, a piece of the vehicle can be seen detaching as it continues to drive, eventually coming to a halt in the middle of the road.
The crash caused a chain reaction, forcing other vehicles to rapidly change direction in an attempt to avoid the wreckage, impacting nearly three out of the four lanes on the road.
Abu Dhabi Police’s Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate has issued a strong reminder to motorists, urging them never to stop randomly on the road. Drivers are advised to proceed to the nearest exit to ensure the safety of all road users, avoid traffic obstruction, and prevent dangerous accidents.
In line with traffic regulations, stopping in the middle of the road can result in a fine of Dh1,000 and six black points on the driver’s record. Additionally, Article 70 of the Federal Traffic and Roads Law mandates a Dh500 fine for drivers who fail to follow traffic signs and instructions.
