Rare Porsche and Mercedes Models Lead RM Sotheby’s Tegernsee Auction Line-Up

Luxury collector cars including rare Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari models are set to headline RM Sotheby’s upcoming Tegernsee auction in Germany this July, as the auction house unveiled its first major consignments for the event.

The auction, taking place on July 4 at Gut Kaltenbrunn on the shores of Lake Tegernsee, will be held in partnership with the Concours of Elegance Germany and is expected to attract collectors from around the world.

Among the standout entries is a 1960 Porsche 356 B Carrera 1600 GS/GT Coupé by Reutter, regarded as one of the rarest early Carrera models. RM Sotheby’s said only 29 examples were originally built. The classic Porsche, finished in Silver Metallic over Black, was first delivered to New York through legendary importer Max Hoffman and carries an estimated value between €470,000 and €570,000.

Another major highlight is a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet, one of just 80 open-top versions produced to celebrate Mercedes-Benz’s 2003 DTM championship victory. The high-performance model, showing fewer than 2,000 kilometres, is estimated at up to €550,000.

The auction will also feature a rare 1992 RUF BTR 3.8, converted by RUF Automobile from a lightweight Porsche Carrera RS N/GT and finished in Maritime Blue. The car has recorded just over 6,000 kilometres since conversion and is expected to fetch between €360,000 and €450,000.

Additional classic and performance vehicles include a restored 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet, a 1957 BMW 503 Cabriolet Series I, a 1964 Porsche 356 C Carrera 2 Coupé, a 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and a 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia 16M.

RM Sotheby’s said the sale will also include select automobilia and Formula One memorabilia, including a 2018 Max Verstappen Red Bull Racing Puma suit, Ferrari 550 Barchetta helmets, and a Ferrari 458 Italia luggage set.

The Tegernsee auction marks RM Sotheby’s second live sale at the Bavarian lakeside venue, which has become an increasingly prominent destination for Europe’s collector car community.
