Bahrain’s senior men’s volleyball team begin their defence of the Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship title against Kuwait today in Amman, Jordan.
The Bahrainis face their Gulf rivals at 3pm in their opening match at Arena Hall in Al-Hussain Youth City.
Montenegro head coach Ivan Joksimovic’s men will then have two days without a match before returning to action against hosts Jordan on Friday at 6pm.
Next up will be Saudi Arabia on Saturday at 4pm, followed by Algeria next Tuesday at the same time and Oman the following day at 6pm in their final match.
Six teams are competing for the title, with Bahrain joined by Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Oman following the withdrawals of Egypt, Tunisia and Palestine.
Bahrain head into the tournament as defending champions after lifting the trophy on home soil in November 2024, when they defeated Qatar in four sets in the final.
That triumph secured the kingdom’s third Arab crown, adding to previous successes in 1992 and 2008.
Joksimovic, who took charge in April, has already guided the nationals to GCC Games gold in Doha in May and a fourth-place finish at the AVC Men’s Cup in India.
His side most recently competed at last month’s AVC Men’s Continental Championship in Japan, where their campaign ended in the pool stage.
