“The rise of countries begins in the classroom,” a senior lawmaker said on Teacher’s Day, quoting His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who described teachers as “the first architect of minds and values.”
Shura Council member Adel Al Asoomi said education had long been central to His Majesty’s vision, with schools and the development of Bahrainis placed among the country’s key priorities.
Mr Al Asoomi also praised His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for efforts to improve schools, update curricula and equip teachers with the skills and tools needed for modern education.
He thanked Education Minister Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma and ministry staff for training programmes aimed at strengthening teachers’ skills and helping them keep pace with new teaching methods.
MP Jalal Kadhem said teachers’ responsibilities extended well beyond textbooks and examinations, as they helped young people develop knowledge, values and a sense of belonging.
He highlighted efforts to modernise schools, revise curricula, introduce technology into classrooms and strengthen staff training.
“The teacher is an educator and a leader, and is the one who plants in our children a love of country, work and productivity,” Mr Kadhem said.
MP Maryam Al Sayegh said teachers also played an important role in preparing young Bahrainis for employment, public life and the challenges ahead.
She praised the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s support for education and thanked the Education Ministry for its work in teacher training, school improvement and the use of classroom technology.
“Teachers carry the message of knowledge and enlightenment and, through their work, raise generations able to build the country and raise its standing,” Ms Al Sayegh said.
She added that teachers remained among the strongest influences on children’s learning and character, leaving a lasting impact on generations to come.
