Zack Snyder's 'The Last Photograph' Heads to Toronto

Zack Snyder's The Last Photograph is heading to the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) for its world premiere, marking a major milestone for the filmmaker's long-gestating project. The film will screen on September 13 at the John Bassett Theatre in Toronto.

The drama-thriller stars Stuart Martin, Fra Fee and Costanza Andrade and follows a former DEA agent who ventures into the South American jungle on a mission to find his missing niece and nephew after their diplomat parents are killed. A troubled war photographer joins him, as the journey forces the protagonist to confront both the dangerous terrain and his own inner demons.

Snyder directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with long-time collaborator Kurt Johnstad.

The film's TIFF debut comes as Snyder continues to explore projects outside the major superhero and franchise productions that have defined much of his career.

With its world premiere approaching, The Last Photograph could become one of the festival's notable titles as buyers and audiences get their first full look at Snyder's latest cinematic venture.

The movie has reportedly been in development for nearly two decades, making its arrival at TIFF particularly significant for Snyder and his fans. The Toronto premiere will also provide an opportunity for the film to attract potential distributors, as it currently does not have a studio or streaming distributor attached.
