Bahrain's Nadia, Falah advance in singles events at bowling worlds

Bahrain’s multi-titled superstar bowlers Nadia Aqeel and Yusuf Falah both booked their tickets yesterday to the second round of their respective singles competitions in the IBF Super World Championships, being held in Dubai.

Nadia secured her seat amongst the top 32 in the Women’s Singles to make it through to their next stage of play, while Falah did the same in the Men’s Singles. The pair are part of the Kingdom’s national team competing in the world.

Nadia ranked 31st from 92 entrants at the end of her qualification round with a 2,102 total and 210.20 average after 10 games. She enjoyed a high game of 256 in her final outing for a strong finish in her qualifying bid. Nadia’s teammates also put in solid performances but could not advance.

Noora Sultan was ranked 51st with a 2,010 total and 201.00 average, Layla Aljanahi was 81st with a 1,694 total and 169.40 average, and Reem Sultan was 91st with a 1,556 total and 155.60 average. Kelly Kulick from the US.

was the Women’s Singles’ top qualifier with a 2,479 total and 247.90 average. On the distaff, Falah was the sixth-best qualifier out of 133 competitors in the Men’s Singles.

He had a 2,365 total with a 236.50 average, with a high game of 259 in his 10-game series. Fellow-Bahrainis Ahmed Algoud, Ahmed Alkhaja and Ali Almass did not make it through. Algoud finished qualification in 87th with a 2,037 total and 203.70 average.

Alkhaja was 92nd with scores of 2,027 and 202.70, while Almass was 95th with a 2,018 total and 201.80 average. Jesper Svensson of Sweden was the top men’s qualifier with a 2,588 total and 258.80 average.

Tournament action continues today with the second round in the Doubles competitions. Bahrain’s Nadia and Noora have secured their place in this stage for the Women’s Doubles, while Falah and Algoud have qualified in the Men’s Doubles.
