Bahrain’s men’s 3x3 basketball team will depart for Japan today after completing their preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

The kingdom will make its debut in the discipline, with 16 teams competing from September 21 to 25 at Kinjo Futo Station Square in Nagoya.

The squad consists of Elyas Younes, Isa Jasim, Mohammed Ghazi and Naser Alanzoor.

Bahrain have been drawn in Group C alongside Qatar, Indonesia and defending champions Chinese Taipei.

They begin their campaign with two matches on Monday, facing Chinese Taipei at 12.55pm before taking on Indonesia at 2.35pm.

Their final group match will be against Qatar on Wednesday at 8.30am. All times are in Bahrain time.

Group A features Mongolia, the Philippines, Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka, while China, Iran, Malaysia and Hong Kong make up Group B. Hosts Japan are joined by Singapore, South Korea and Thailand in Group D.

The group stage will follow a single round-robin format, with each pool winner advancing directly to the quarter-finals. Teams finishing second and third will enter a play-in round to determine the remaining places.

The play-in matches and quarter-finals will take place on September 24, before the competition concludes the following day with the semi-finals and the bronze and gold-medal games.
