Muharraq Name Al Saadoun Head Coach

Muharraq has turned to one of its own by naming Isa Al Saadoun Mohammed as head coach of the first football team.

The club said its board chose the former Muharraq man after the football department reviewed several coaching CVs and other names put forward for the role.

Al Saadoun, a Bahraini coach with deep roots at the club, takes charge after Muharraq retained the Nasser bin Hamad Premier League title and won His Majesty the King’s Cup last season.

That leaves him with a clear task. He must keep the side at the top, chase further trophies and meet the hopes of a fan base used to silverware.

In a statement on its official account, Muharraq said Al Saadoun’s past at the club, his grasp of its history and his leadership all weighed in his favour.

The club said the board also wished to give Bahraini coaches room to lead, adding that it trusted Al Saadoun and his staff to carry the team through the next stage.

Al Saadoun is among Muharraq’s best-known sons. He led the side to the Gulf Clubs Championship and the AFC Cup, along with a run of local honours, carving out a place among the club’s most successful coaches.

Muharraq said it wished Al Saadoun and his technical staff well in their new posts and hoped they would add further honours to one of Bahrain football’s most decorated clubs.
