Bahraini Royal Guard boxer Prakash Limbu steps into the ring today in Hereford, United Kingdom, for the annual Special Air Service (SAS) Charity Boxing event, aiming to turn past setbacks into a defining performance.
Limbu, representing the Royal Guard Special Forces (RGSF), will face the British Army’s Dylan Swales in the 65kg category. The two fighters are no strangers to each other in terms of competitive history, as both competed in last year’s Royal Rumble IV event in Bahrain, where each suffered defeats. Their upcoming bout now sets the stage for a shared pursuit of redemption on the international military boxing circuit.
For Limbu, the fight carries added significance following a narrow split-decision loss in his most recent major outing. Determined to bounce back, he has emphasized both improvement and confidence in his preparation. Speaking to The Daily Tribune, he credited coach Tony Davis for his progress and sharper ring readiness.
“Training and preparation under Tony has been good, I feel sharp,” Limbu said. “I’ve already put one of their boxers on the floor last year, but unfortunately I lost via a split decision. I promise this time it’s going to be different.”
Under the guidance of coach Tony Davis, the Nepali-born boxer has undergone a focused training camp tailored specifically to Swales’ style. His preparation included targeted sparring sessions alongside teammate Abdullah Al Abdullah, who faced Swales last year in Catterick, Yorkshire. With a similar height and physical profile to Swales, Abdullah has been able to draw on his experience from that bout to provide Limbu with valuable insight.
Limbu will also look to build on last year’s success for the Royal Guard, where Hamza Zrire secured a notable victory, as he seeks to deliver a statement performance on British soil.
