The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), in collaboration with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), participated in a planting activity at the Isa Town Jogging Track on World Environment Day. Held on Thursday, 4th June, the initiative saw NBB employees and NIAD representatives come together to add new plants across the public facility.
Observed annually on 5th June, World Environment Day is globally commemorated for turning environmental awareness into concrete action. For NBB, the day serves as an opportunity to bring its leadership and employees together in direct participation, translating its institutional commitments into collective engagement.
Commenting on the activity, Zaina Alzayani, Group Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer at NBB, said, “The real measure of any sustainability commitment is not what it declares in a given year, but what it continues to build across many. Our collaboration with NIAD allows us to work actively for the enhancement of Bahrain’s natural landscape, while encouraging shared responsibility towards environmental stewardship. This activity reinforces our belief that every deliberate effort, irrespective of scale, can help shape healthier communities throughout the Kingdom.”
Dr. Asma Ali, Business Development Director at NIAD, added, “Partnerships with leading institutions such as NBB are important in advancing Bahrain’s afforestation measures and encouraging the public’s engagement in environmental initiatives. The planting activity at Isa Town Jogging Track reflects the value of coordinated action in enhancing urban spaces and promoting ecological consciousness among citizens and residents. Through such joint endeavours, we are playing our part in elevating the quality of life across the Kingdom, in line with the national objectives towards environmental conservation.”
The activity is among a series of environmental initiatives that NBB carries out in partnership with national organisations throughout the year. Through consistent community engagement, the Bank continues to give practical expression to its wider sustainability and biodiversity mandate, thereby supporting Bahrain’s broader environmental and developmental priorities.
