At the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2026, Bahrain delivered a strong all-round showing, collecting multiple medals across both men’s and women’s competitions in Ahmedabad, India.

In the men’s super heavyweight category, Bahrain’s campaign was spearheaded by Gor Minasyan, who produced a commanding performance to win the overall title with a total of 457kg. He secured gold in the snatch, silver in the clean and jerk, and finished top of the podium in a closely contested field.

The spotlight of the event came from Iran’s Alireza Yousefi, who claimed clean and jerk gold with a world record lift of 261kg, becoming the first record-holder in the newly established +110kg category. Despite that historic lift, he finished with overall silver on 445kg after taking bronze in the snatch. South Korea’s Song Yeonghwan completed the podium with bronze in the overall standings on 416kg.

Bahrain also made an impact in the women’s 86kg category through Aline Maruschack, who secured silver overall with a total of 265kg. China’s Peng Cuiting claimed gold with 270kg, while South Korea’s Jang Hyeonju took bronze.

Maruschack’s performance stood out for its balance across lifts, earning her silver in the snatch, gold in the clean and jerk, and silver in the overall standings, reinforcing Bahrain’s presence in the women’s competition.
