Historic Awali cricket clash ends in dramatic tie

The historic Awali Cricket Club’s annual President vs Captain match ended in a dramatic tie, marking another chapter in a 90-year tradition that began in 1935.

Played in a 30-over format, the contest between the President’s XI and the Captain’s XI delivered a closely fought encounter filled with competitive cricket and strong team performances, finishing level after the final delivery.

The President’s XI was led by Kumar Nair, while Jigar Brahambhatt captained the opposing side. Both teams traded momentum throughout the match, which officials described as a “perfect reflection” of balanced competition within the club.

“This historic match is part of Bahrain cricket’s legacy,” Nair said. “Today’s tied result shows its fierce competitiveness, and that is exactly the spirit that has kept this tradition alive for nine decades.”
