Former Bahrain Boss Helio Sousa Named Kuwait Head Coach
Portugal’s Helio Sousa, who famously led Bahrain to the Gulf Cup in 2019, has been appointed head coach of the Kuwait men’s national team, the country’s football association announced.
Sousa, 55, replaces Juan Antonio Pizzi and is reportedly signed through 2027 on a $1.6 million annual deal. He’s best known in the Gulf for guiding Bahrain to their first-ever Gulf Cup and a West Asian title in the same year.
Kuwait will hope Sousa’s track record of building disciplined, overachieving squads can revive their regional fortunes.
