Paris Saint-Germain are back in the UEFA Champions League final. Five years after falling short against Bayern Munich, the French champions secured a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night, sealing a 3-1 aggregate victory in the semi-finals.
Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring with a thunderous strike in the 27th minute, punishing Arsenal for a defensive miscue. Achraf Hakimi’s crisp finish in the second half all but sealed it, before Bukayo Saka pulled one back for the Gunners late on—but it was too little, too late.
PSG’s success was built on resilience. Gianluigi Donnarumma produced a string of world-class saves in the first half, denying Martinelli and Ødegaard to keep the home side alive during Arsenal’s early storm. Despite a missed penalty from Vitinha, PSG never lost their composure, growing into the game and showing their tactical maturity under Luis Enrique.
The Parisians now face Inter Milan in the final on May 31 in Munich—a historic first-ever European clash between the two sides, and the first French-Italian Champions League final since Marseille beat AC Milan in 1993.
Captain Marquinhos summed up the emotion: “The road was hard and slow… but now we prepare for the final in the best possible way.”
For Arsenal, who were bidding to reach their first Champions League final since 2006, it ended in heartbreak. Despite early dominance and Saka’s late goal, Mikel Arteta’s men were undone by PSG’s clinical edge.
“We played like one of the best teams in Europe,” Arteta said, “but I’m so annoyed we couldn’t take it further.”
Now, PSG stand one step away from European glory—again. Will this finally be their moment?
