Kingdom’s Netballers raise BD480 for charity works

The Bahrain Expatriate Netball League (BENL) helped raise BD408 for the local Dreams Society at its annual Tinsel Netball Tournament at the Dilmun Sports Club in Saar.

The money raised aims to bring joy to children affected by terminal or debilitating illnesses.

Seven teams participated with the Black Cats finishing first, followed by Santa’s Little Jumpers in second place and The Jingle Belles third.

All teams were encouraged to use festive names and dress in festive attire to win ‘the best dressed team award’ which went to St Christmas Vets.

Other teams in the fray were Rudolphs, Xmas Crackers and The Animals. Games lasted seven minutes straight and were open to both regular netball players along with family, friends and male players.

BENL Social Secretary Rama Salem said, “It was nice too see the community get together and support a good cause and the increasing interest in the sport by the men.”

Dreams Society Treasurer Hussain Qaseer who also played said, “We would like to thank the ladies of the league for organising a wonderful event and donating proceeds to help the society continue their mission of bringing joy and happiness to the children.”
